Alliance to continue with strike in Nepal for indefinite period
Kathmandu, Apr 9 (UNI) The Seven Party alliance in Nepal today decided to continue with their nationwide general strike for an indefinite period.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Joint Mass Movement Central Coordination Committee.
''The general strike which has been on despite curfew and prohibitory orders for the last three days will continue,'' a statement issued here said, adding that the movement is gaining mass support.
Claiming that the movement has gained momentum, the statement issued has thanked the international community for extending support even as it issued a call for continued support to democracy.
The alliance has also called for a 'black out' and torch rally in Kathmandu this evening against the mass arrests and intervention by security personnel on peaceful demonstrations across the country.
