348 candidates for second phase Bengal poll
Kolkata, Apr 8 (UNI) Altogether 348 candidates are left in the fray for the second phase of Assembly polling in four West Bengal districts after expiry of the dates for scrutiny and withdrawal.
Chief Electoral Officer(CEO) Debasish Sen said 115 nominees of different political parties would contest from Howrah, while the number of contestants was 86 in Nadia, 77 in Hooghly and 70 in East Midnapore, going to polls on April 22.
Altogether 228 candidates will be constesting in the first phase polls to be held in Purulia, Bankura and West Midnapore districts on April 17.
Nomination for the second phase ended on April four and that for the third phase came to an end today. However, details of nominations in the third phase was yet to be received.
