130 magistrates for poll duty in Baramulla
Srinagar, Apr 9 (UNI) As many as 130 magistrates will be deployed in Pattan, Sangrama and Rafiabad Assembly constituencies of Baramulla district where by-elections are scheduled to be held on April 24.
This has been done to conduct the bypolls in a free, fair and transparent manner.
The randomisation of polling staff was over and the schedule for imparting Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) training to the electorate and the polling staff has also been notified.
The decisions were conveyed to Election Observers at a meeting of Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers, Magistrates, Zonal and Sectoral Officers at Baramulla.
The meeting was informed that Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) have been distributed to 65 per cent voters while for the remaining the Election Commission has allowed 14 other documents for identification.
As many as 130 magistrates have been appointed while the transport plan has also been drawn.
Security and other related arrangements for conducting polls were also discussed at the meeting.
The observers asked the officials to ensure that EVM training was provided to voters and stressed for implementing the instructions of the Election Commission in letter and spirit.
They asked the administration to distribute voter slips family-wise among the electorate to avoid inconvenience to them in locating their names in the rolls on the polling day.
