Two dead, 500 hurt in Bangladesh storm

DHAKA, April 8 (Reuters) At least two people were killed and over 500 injured when a storm lashed several villages in Bangladesh today, police and witnesses said.

Nearly 500 houses were flattened and crops were damaged when the storm winds up to 100 km per hour swept through Bhuapur, 130 km northwest of capital Dhaka.

The two dead were killed in a house collapse. Other people were injured by flying debris.

At least 10 people have died and many have been injured in storms that have swept through different parts of the country over the past week.

Tropical storms sweeping across the country from March to May kill hundreds of people every year.

Weather officials said they expected more storms and rains over the next week.
