TVm. division achieves Rs 423.79 crore earnings

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 8 (UNI) The Southern Railways, Thiruvananthapuram division, has achieved overall earnings of Rs 423.79 crore, with an increase in the passenger and goods traffic.

The earnings from passenger traffic had increased from Rs 261.53 crore in 2004-05 to Rs 293.04 crore, a 12 per cent increase, a release said here today.

The division had handled about 2.279 MT goods this year, it said and added this was achieved because of more than ten per cent growth in petrol, fertilizer and special commodities loaded in an around Kochi and places like Kollam, Piravom Road and others.

The division had also achieved visible improvement in passenger amenities, parcel handling, control over ticketless travel and streamlined parking and circulation arrangements and several other areas.
