Teams arrive as weather threatens to play spoilsport
Guwahati, Apr 8 (UNI) Indian and England teams arrive here today even as tomorrow's match hangs in balance with the weather gods playing hide and seek the whole day today.
The city was greeted with sparkling sunshine this morning raising hopes of a fine cricket match tomorrow at the Nehru Stadium.
As soon as they arrived, the hosts declared that they will have a net session in the afternoon from 3 to 4pm at the stadium.
But, as the time neared a rush of clouds appeared on the western sky and what followed was a deluge of hailstorm for next 25 minutes that literaly poured water on the prospects of any practice.
The Met office sources told UNI that there could be heavy to light rains and thunderstorm later in the evening. They were also not very upbeat about the weather tomorrow.
''The weather suddenly deteriorated,'' they said.
Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Secreatry Bikash Barua, however, put up a brave face when he said that the association will do its best to see the match being held tomorrow.
''If necessary we will get helicopters to dry the field. We are making preparations for that. The super-sopper is working overtime,'' he said.
