Baripada, Apr 8 (UNI) Security has been beefed up and combing operation intensified in the Naxalite prone areas of Mayurbhanj district of Orissa.

Police said a group of armed Naxalites was reportedly found moving in some vulnerable areas of Bangriposi, Besoi and Gorumahisani police stations.

This prompted the police to keep a strong vigil on the movement of the ultras in the border areas of Jharkhand.

Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police Ravi Kant when contacted said ''Grey Hounds'' specially trained in guerrilla warfare and the CRPF personnel have been deployed for combing operations to counter the Naxalites.

He said high alert was sounded and patrolling all along the Mayurbhanj-Jharkhand border was intensified to prevent the possibilities of the ultras sneaking into the district from the Naxalite-hit areas of the neighbouring Jharkhand.

According to villagers, a group of nearly ten armed Naxalites including three women was seen moving in Chilikikhala and Domuhani villages under Sarishapal gram panchayat in Bangriposi block of Mayurbhanj district a couple of days back.
