New Delhi, Apr 8 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today called for setting up more higher education institutions and increasing the number of seats in the existing educational institutions to make reservation meaningless.

Talking to reporters after inaugurating the National Immunization Day here, Dr Kalam said his vision of education was: how to make reservation meaningless by increasing the number of seats in educational institutions.

He said two more higher educational institutes on the lines of the Indian Institute of Science and Education were being set up to provide quality education to children in the country.

In reply to a question regarding a protests by students in premier institutes like IITs and IIMs against the 27 per cent reservation announced by the government, he said the number of seats in IITs and IIMs should be increased.

He said the number of seats in the engineering colleges were already more than the required in many parts of the country, the same should happen in fields like medical education and management courses.

However, he parried the question whether he approved of the government's decision. He said that his vision was that all the 540 million youth of the country should get opportunity for education.
