Pak Minister says elections to be held in 2008
Islamabad, Apr 8 (UNI) Elections to the national and provincial assemblies in Pakistan will be held in February 2008 and a new President will be elected within a month of the completion of polls, Pakistan's Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sher Afgan Niazi said.
Dr Niazi said here yesterday that the governing bodies would complete their five-year terms on November 16, 2007 and the President is bound to dissolve them as per constitutional law.
Elections would be held within 90 days of their dissolution and a new President elected within 30 days of the completion of elections, he was quoted as saying by the local media.
