Medical students BURNT effigy of VC

Vijayawada, Apr 8 (UNI) Protesting against the callous attitude of the Andhra Pradesh Government on G O 19, the students of Siddartha Medical College burnt the effigy of NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) Vice Chancellor Prof R Sambasiva Rao in the University campus today.

Talking to newspersons here the State Medical Students Association President Krishna Chaitanya alleged that the Government, instead of filling the vacant posts for the last five years in Primary Health Centres (PHC), brought the G O and added nine grace marks, paving way for the hike in reservation by an additional 30 per cent for the in-service candidates.

He said as a result the meritorious students were being deprived of seats and demanded that the G O be rescinded.

Mr Chaitanya alleged that the University authorities had added marks in the entrance examination, without informing the students and the media.

Mr Chaitanya said the Andhra Pradesh Junior Doctors Association (APJDA) would extend its support on the issue.
