Chandigarh, Apr 8: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda will lay the foundation stone of Rs 267 crore Dadupur-Shahbad Nalvi Irrigation Project on April 13 at Jhanderi village near Shahbad in Kurukshetra district.

The project will supply irrigation water from Yamuna river to Yamunanagar, Ambala and Kurukshetra districts by construction of 374 km long canal system, an official spokesman said.

He said due to non-construction of upstream storages the availability of water in the Yamuna river was fluctuating and very meager supplies were available in lean months. During monsoon about 50 per cent water went waste.

The capacity of the canal at its head had been proposed to be 590 cusecs, he added.
