Govt rejects SBI employees' demand; strike to continue
Mumbai, Apr 8 (UNI) Striking employees of State Bank of India today said the Union government has rejected their pension demand and hence their six-day-old strike would continue.
Stating this here tonight, All India State Bank of India Staff Federation secretary P K Patnaik said a meeting of United Forum of Banking Unions would be held at Channai on April 11 to chalk out further course of action.
The government's decision rejecting their demand was conveyed to the unions by the SBI management, Mr Patnaik said.
He did not rule out intensification of the strike after the Tuesday meeting, saying they could launch hunger strike to press for acceptance of their demand.
