Global conference for peace on Buddha Jayanti

New Delhi, Apr 8 (UNI) A global conference for peace was organised today on the occasion of 2550th Buddha Jayanti with an aim to increase awareness about the 'Buddha Dhamma' to bring peace for billions of people across the world.

Many religious leaders belonging to different faiths, along with scholars from various countries, participated in the meet organised by Maha Bodhi Society of India, here.

The ceremony started with reading out of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's message on peace and blessings offered by various religious leaders. Dignitaries from Japan, Sri Lanka and Cambodia also spoke on the occasion.

A Japanese cultural show 'Lotus flower' and a karate demonstration with stress on global peace and harmony, were also held on the occasion.
