Bellary, Karnataka, Apr 8 (UNI) In a swift action, the Bellary police rescued a girl from her abductors within a few hours and arrested two persons in this connection.

Superintendent of Police Pankajkumar Thakur told newspersons here that two persons, however, managed to give a slip to the police.

He said one Khasim Basha of Sandur, maintaining a fleet of trucks, came to Bellary last night to meet his mother and sister. On his way, he visited his brother at Radio park, Cowl Bazaar, and took his niece Parveen Banu along with him to Sandur. However, he had to stop his car on the outskirts of Bellary as Banu fell ill.

Four youths, armed with knives, caught Banu immediately and demanded a ransom of Rs ten lakh. The deal was settled at Rs eight lakh and Basha left for Bellary with one of the kidnappers, Siddiqui, leaving behind Banu with the other three abductors.

Basha went to his friend Khaleel's house at Cowl Bazaar, but as he was unable to arrange the money they went to his uncle Rahamatullah's house at Dalwala Mosque Cowl Bazaar. The trio overpowered Siddiqui and took him to the Cowl Bazaar police station.

Police forced Siddiqui to inform the other abductors that they were coming with money. Then police, Basha, Khaleel and Rahamatullah rounded up the kidnappers, residents of Kurugodu town. When the kidnappers tried to attack the police, the latter fired four rounds in the air. Two persons were arrested, while another two managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
