Four member gang nabbed
Chennai, Apr 8 (UNI) Police today nabbed a four-member gang hailing from the southern Tirunelveli district, for cheating a real estate owner to the tune of Rs 20 lakh by posing as Income Tax officers.
Police said the gang members -- Ganesan, Prabakaran, Madasamy and Kandasamy -- had entered the house of real estate owner Vijayakumar in January and raided the house.
They had taken Rs 20 lakhs before leaving.
Acting on a complaint, police pursued various leads, traced their nativity to Tirunelveli, before zeroing on them.
They were later produced before a court which remanded them in judicial custody.
