Eight girls forced into prostitution rescued; four arrested

Mumbai, Apr 8 (UNI) Police rescued eight minor girls from a hotel in South Mumbai and arrested four persons, including a woman, for forcing the girls into prostitution.

Acting on a tip-off by social worker Amrutkaur Jagdev that some minor girls were kept in a hotel near Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and were being forced into prostitution, police raided the place late last night at around 2205 hrs and arrested four persons on the spot.

The rescued girls, all between 16 and 17 years of age, have been sent to a remand home in Chembur, police said.

The four arrested have been identified as - Bappa Mohammed Harshad Kaji, Rajkumar Sahoo (21), Ramswarup alias Ajay Yadav (26) and Yashmin Sheikh (25) A case has been registered against them under Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA), police added.
