Dr K V Rao scientists society awards

Hyderabad, Apr 8 (UNI) Dr Indira nath, member, Scientific Advisory Committee to the Union Cabinet was presented the Memorial Oration Award by Dr K V Rao Scientific Society here today.

Founder head of the Department of Biotechnology, All India Institute of Medical Sciencies, Dr Indira, Director, Blue Peter Research Centre here, received the award from Soceity President DR B V S R Murthy.

Recepient of S S Bhatnagar Award and Chevalier of the National Order of Merite, France, among other awards, She had been the Dean of Medicine, Asian Institute of Medicine, Malaysia.

The award winners in the Young Scientist category were: Physics: T Govardhan Reddy, Osmania, University, Hyderabad(first), N Ajeetha, Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur(first runner-up), K Prabhakar, Osmania University, Hyderabad.

Chemistry and allied Sciences: Ms Shatabdi Porel, University of Hyderabad, Meenal Vyas, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad(first runner-up), Sandip Banthia, University of Hyderabad(second runner-up).

Srivalli Lavanya(Rajahmundry), N Ramu Naidu(Viziangaram) and K Anjani(Anatapur) were given awards by the Society in coordination with the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Science and Technology in an effort to identify and nurture scientific talent among school students at a gala function at the B M Birla Science Centre.
