Guwahati, Apr 8(UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hopes to play a crucial role in formation of the next government in Asom after the elections.

Former Civil Aviation Minister Shahnawaz Hussain, who is campaigning for the saffron party in minority-dominated areas, for the second phase of election in Asom said today, the BJP will emerge the dark horse in Asom polls.

''The BJP will play a key role in formation of the next government in the state where it is fighting against illegal migration from Bangladesh,'' he said.

Sonia magic or the so called charisma of the Congress president will not work in Asom where the Congress' days are numbered, he claimed.

The Congress did not protect Asom from unabated migration from Bangladesh for using them as its votebank, the BJP leader alleged.

''The BJP believes that the Hindus from Bangladesh have entered the country as they were forced to leave. We are not going to compromise for the sake of votes in election,'' the BJP leader said.

He said the BJP which has fielded 10 Muslim candidates in the state in the assembly polls, as it does not have greivances against the Muslim citizens of the country and were committed to ensure that Indian muslims were not disturbed because of infiltration.
