BJP mulls flag change, might go for 'complete saffron'
New Delhi, Apr 8: The BJP is seriously considering changing the party flag and giving it a complete saffron hue as compared to the present saffron and green.
Party president Rajnath Singh, in response to several suggestions pouring-in from various quarters, is seriously considering the proposal to saffronise the party flag completely in order to re-emphasise the party's ideological position which denounced any kind of appeasement.
This idea, according to RSS mouthpiece 'Panchjanya', derives its 'clue' from the 1931 'Congress Flag Committee' report which said representing minorities through various colours on the flag communalises it.
The 'kesaria' or saffron colour had been the nation's representative colour since ages and was accepted by all, added the report which had Sardar V B Patel, Maulana Azad, Master Tara Singh and Pattabhi Sitaramaiyya among others as its members.
The party thinks that the new 'idea' needs a 'dekho' as saffron represents all communities and sections and their aspirations.
Besides, a complete saffron colour flag would be a fitting riposte to the appeasement policies of the Congress-Left combine and their anti-Hindu drive, 'Panchjanya' adds.
