Ambedkar Marathon on Apr 14

Lucknow, Apr 8 (UNI) Under the aegis of Uttar Pradesh Sports Directorate, regional sports office will organise a 42.195 km marathon here on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar on April 14.

Addressing a press conference, regional sports officer R P Singh said today that several acclaimed sprinters (men and women) would participate in the marathon involving a prize money of Rs 1.01 lakh.

Besides, an open cross country race of five km for boys and girls would also be held, he said.

The winners in both the categories would be given Rs 1.01 lakh each, while Rs 50,000 and Rs 20,000 each would be awarded to second and third place finishers respectively.

Eleven consolation prizes of Rs 5,000 in each category would also be at stake, besides other prizes to participants in cross country.
