AIDS curable through 'pranayam'cure to come out soon: Swami Ramdev

New Delhi, Apr 8 (UNI) Patanjali Yogapeeth University Chancellor and renowned yoga guru Swami Ramdev today claimed that his institution would shortly come out with a cure for AIDS.

Addressing mediapersons before his first 7-day 'yoga science shivir' in Delhi, which begins tomorrow, the Swami said 'pranayam' was key to containing AIDS. ''But it will take some time before this could be scientifically established.'' To doubting Thomas', the Swami said the cure would be announced only after backing it with scientific documentary evidence.

''I would come out with evidence in support to the cure, as I have done in the case of Cancer,'' the yoga guru said.

Refuting charges that his 'therapy' was not scientifically proved and lacked clinical research, he said hundreds and thousands of cured patients were proof of the potency of the 'way of life' called yoga. ''It was easy, inexpensive, authentic and carried no side-effects.'' Moreover, everyone can do it, though not everyone can take medicines, he explained.

''Thousands of years of ayurveda history was testimony to its efficacy whereas allopathy was a new entrant with hardly 200 years behind it, which needs to prove itself,'' he asserted.

Even according to a research in Britain two out of three people died because of medicines and its side effects, he pointed out.

Asserting that allopathic medicines at best treat the symptoms of the disease and not actually cure it, he said ayurveda had the capacity to eliminate diseases.

Seeking support for 'alternate medicine and therapy' which included ayurveda, the Swami said, ''Not only it did not have any side effects and affordable by the common man, it also could help the farming community through increased cultivation.'' He also stressed that 'yoga' was not a mere physical exercise, but provide solutions to life's problems leading to a healthy life and society.
