US Berlin embassy probes report of caustic letter
BERLIN, Apr 7 (Reuters) The US embassy in Berlin said today it was probing a German news report that a postal worker was injured by a substance that leaked out of a letter addressed to US Ambassador William Timken.
''We've seen the report and are looking into it,'' US embassy spokesman Robert Wood said.
A German news agency cited German police as saying that a female postal employee was handling a letter addressed to Timken when an unknown substance leaked out of it and injured her. The report said the woman was taken to hospital.
Wood did not have any other details and police were not immediately available for comment.
