TCT to provide feeder services for Maersk, Mediterranean Co.
New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Tuticorin Container Terminal (TCT), operated by PSA SICAL Terminals Ltd, today announced the commencement of dedicated feeder services by two of the world's largest container shipping lines - Maersk and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) at its terminal in South India.
Commenting on this, PSA SICAL Terminals Ltd MD S R Ramakrishnan said, ''We have been consistently at the forefront of innovations in port management and productivity. The deployment of dedicated feeders in Tuticorin, instead of common feeders, is a testimony of our superior infrastructure, service and reliability.'' He added, ''it is also a boost to PSA SICAL's expansion drive at TCT as the new services will provide additional capacity of more than 3,000 TEUs (Twenty foot Equivalent Units) a week in ocean-connectivity.'' MSC vessels will call on TCT once every week while Maersk will send two weekly services to the terminal.
The addition of these shipping services include the construction of container-freight stations (CFS), Inland Container Depot (ICD) and the 4-laning of the roads.
