Police lathi charge in Ramnavami procession

Jamshedpur, Apr 7 (UNI) Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse two warring groups belonging to two different Akharas during Ramnavami procession at Sakchi area here this evening.

Police said the violent clash took place when the Akharas of Toiladungri and Manifit tried to overtake each other. The devotees of two Akharas also hurled stones before police stepped in to disperse them.

Seven people were detained in Sakchi police station but they were released later, police said and added no one was injured in the incident.

More than 200 Akharas in the Dhalbhumgarh subdivision participated in the immersion procession of Lord Bajrangbali.
