Nikkei gains as Kyocera, tech firms advance
Tokyo, Apr 7: The Nikkei share average rose 0.05 percent on Friday, as shares in Kyocera Corp. and other technology firms advanced after the technology-heavy US Nasdaq share index hit a five-year closing high.
The Nikkei was up 0.02 percent at 17,493.53 as of 0003 GMT after earlier reaching 17,510.54, its highest since July 2000.
The TOPIX index was down 0.10 percent at 1,774.89.
