Govt to strictly ban cow slaughter

Bhopal, Apr 7: The Madhya Pradesh government will strictly implement the law putting a total ban on the slaughter of bovines, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.

Welcoming the Supreme Court judgement, upholding the Madhya Pradesh Gau Vansh Pratishedh Adhiniyam, 2004, as 'historic', Mr Chouhan said the government would effectively implement the provisions of the Act respecting the popular feelings.

Talking to a delegation of prominent citizens from Burhanpur led by BJP MLA Archana Chitnis here yesterday, Mr Chouhan reiterated the government's commitment to conservation and protection of bovine animals.
