Advani hopes quakes in Gujarat were 'passing tremors'
Ahmeadabad, Apr 7: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani today said that the quakes that rocked Gujarat and Kutch regions were only ''passing tremors'' and the state government was alert to the situation.
''I experienced the quake tremors after addressing the inaugural rally of the Bharat Suraksha Yatra,'' Mr Advani told mediapersons here, adding that he was confident of the state government's ability to deal with the situation.
''Gujarat has evolved a very good and effective national disaster mitigation system and various states of the country and outside are trying to understand and replicate its system which had proved to be very good in dealing with 2001 quakes in Kutch, which had devastated several towns and cities in the region.
