Viral fever affects 30 persons in Vijayawada

Vijayawada, Apr 6 (UNI) As many as 30 people, including children were affected with viral fever for the last few days at Chittinagar in the city.

Talking to UNI, District Malaria Officer Dr R Adinarayana, however denied reports in a section of the media that over 150 people were suffering from viral fever.

He said blood samples from nearly 150 people had been collected and it proved 'negative' after examination.

Similarly, suspecting viral fever, blood samples have been taken from 25 persons and sent to Veternary Biological Research Institute (VBRI) in Hyderabad for clinical test. The Institute would send it to the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune and the report was expected in a week's time, he added.

A medical camp was conducted where the affected persons were given anti-malaria tablets and pyrutyrum was sprayed to control the epidemic, he added.
