'UPA will consider Telangana at approrpriate time'

Vijayawada, Apr 6: The Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre, would consider the creation of separate Telanagana state at an appropriate time, Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh said today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the UPA will stick to the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) and think on the issue only after due Consensus.

Mr Ramesh said the Chairman of the UPA Sub-Committee on Telangana, Pranab Mukherjee, had written letters to all the political parties to air their views.

He said it is not easy to take a decision like Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and Uttaranchal, as implications have to be studied and all its entity be examined thoroughly.

Mr Ramesh said seperate Telangana State was not a ''burning issue'' of the day as the centre had also to pay attention on the naxalities and land dispute issues.
