UP gets serious about ailing prisoners
Lucknow, Apr 6 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has directed concerned officials to make suitable arrangements for the treatment of ailing prisoners in different jails across the state.
State Minister for Prisons Rakesh Kumar Verma said here today that directions have been issued to officials in different jails in the state to arrange for proper treatment of all ailing prisoners.
Mr Verma said that officials have also been directed to conduct health check ups of those prisoners suspected to be suffering from jaundice, chronic fever and renal disorders and take help from district hospitals and medical colleges in this regard.
The minister said adequate budgetary provisions have been made for ensuring the better health of prisoners and undertrials.
