Two officials from Indian AERB will be stationed in USA
Mumbai, Apr 6 (UNI) As a part of its ongoing nuclear safety cooperation programme between India and the United States, a two-member team from the Indian Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) will be stationed at Washington for a period of six months later this year.
This was agreed upon during the visit of a seven-member delegation of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC), led by Peter Lyons, between March 27 and April 4, to India, an AERB release today said.
The US delegation, during their visit, held extensive discussions on topics of severe accident analysis and management, digital control and instrumentation and on planning future work on some standard problem exercises.
The visit was a part of an understanding between the two nations to exchange informations related to nuclear safety cooperation for a period of three years (2003-06) and the next meeting is scheduled for September-October, 2006 in Washington.
During the visit, the USNRC team visited facilities at BARC, Tarapur, Kalpakkam and Rawabhata Nuclear Power Plant(NPP) sites.
