Two held in Rajouri in fake certificates racket

Rajouri, April 6 (UNI) A revenue official along with a civilian was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police for their alleged involvement in a fake certificate racket.

Police sources said Mohd Rafiq, a resident of Rehan was arrested by a police team on a tip off. He was involved in making fake documents of revenue department and school certificates for the past sometime.

During interrogation Mohd Rafiq disclosed that Mohd Aslam, a revenue department official, posted in the office of Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, had been assisting him in preparing fake stamps and certificates.

Sources said on the basis of his information, police picked up Mohd Aslam and questioned him, adding that both the accused were involved the illegal business for last more than a year. They also admitted of charging Rs 2000 to Rs 10,000 from gullible persons for issuing fake certificates to them.

Police have also identified a number of persons, who had secured fake certificates from the racketeers. Action is also likely to be taken against them, the sources added.
