Timber smugglers get better of forest protectors in Kashmir
Srinagar, Apr 6 (UNI) The Forest Protection Force (FPF) personnel in north Kashmir had to run for their lives when timber smugglers chased them during a routine patrol and took away the lot with ease and no resistance, sources said today.
Three FPF personnel were wounded while running away, they added.
The sources said during a routine patrol in Batingu forest area of Sopore town of north Kashmir's Baramulla district the FPF personnel spotted a group of timber smugglers carrying the lot.
On being asked to stop, the timber smugglers took out their arms and opened fire on the FPF personnel.
However, the FPF men offered no resistance and thought it better to flee from the spot.
Police have filed a case and started investigations.
