SBI's indefinite strike enters day 4,banking services paralysed

Kolkata, Apr 6 (UNI) The State Bank of India's nationwide indefinite strike entered the fourth day today causing severe inconveniences to the public and belying all hopes for an early solution.

As a result of the indefinite strike in 9500 odd SBI branches throughout the country, the situation has become more complicated after the failure of two rounds of talks among the Central Labour Commissioner, representatives of the Union government, the bank management and the SBI Employee's and Officers' unions in New Delhi last night for an amicable solution to the later's demand.

Reiterating the commitment to continue the strike till their demands were met, about 2.10 lakh SBI employees throughout the country, including about 80,000 in 785 branches in West Bengal, continued their demonstrations and dharnas in front of their respective branches today.

The SBI employees had resorted to the indefinite nationwide strike from April three to press for increasing the ceiling of pension and the amount of family pension fund.
