New Delhi, Apr 6 (UNI) Sania Mirza and Liezel Huber were stretched to the limit by Lino Dominguez and Medina Garrigues before the Indo-South African pair downed the gutsy Spaniards 7-6(7), 6-7(6), 6-3 to advance into the quarterfinals of the doubles event at the 600,000-dollar Amelia Island Tennis Tournament.

In an evenly balanced contest yesterday, Sania-Huber were matched by their opponents shots-for-shots and even faults-for-faults. The first set went the Indo-Protea pair's way in which they prevailed 9-7 after being stretched to the tie-breaker, according to information received here.

The Spanish girls, despite trailing, mounted the pressure and forced another tie-breaker in the second set. They served better this time and broke opponents to win the set 7-6 (8-6) and draw parity.

Just when Sania-Huber started looking out of sorts, Lino-Medina ran out of steam. They erred and were broken twice and Indo-South African girls comfortably sealed the set 6-3 to move into last eight.

In the quarterfinals, they meet Nicole Pratt and Bryanne Stewart from Australia.

On Tuesday, Sania was knocked out 3-6, 4-6 by American Lisa Raymond in the Round one of the singles.
