Lucknow, Apr 6 (UNI) The PVR Cinemas made its debut in the City of Nawabs by unveiling its four-screen multiplex at the Saharaganj Mall here today.
Bollywood showman Subhash Ghai along with actor-director Satish Kaushik were present on the inaugural day of the state of the art multiplex with their new release 'Shaadi Se Pahle.' Interacting with mediapersons, Mr Ghai said that the multiplex will provide quality entertainment to the people of Lucknow.
However, hitting hard on video piracy in the country, he said it is the duty of the police and the government to tackle the menace just like it had been done in Tamil Nadu, where the Goonda Act has been enforced against the offenders.
Commenting on his new film Shaadi Se Pahle, Mr Ghai said that it was Mukta Arts' first offering in 2006 and was a tough job to bang the year with a comedy.
The film's director Satish Kaushik said now people are more attracted towards comedy films and actors also feel comfortable doing it.
Hoping that the film will do brisk business, Mr Kaushik said his attachment with Mr Ghai was old and he felt like home in Mukta Arts.
Meanwhile, PVR Cinemas Executive Director Sanjeev Kumar Bijli said here that the multiplex is equipped with state of the art projection system, dolby digital sound system, designer luxury seating, edge to edge screens and booking through mobile phones.
Mr Kumar said the focus has been to provide the most coveted value added entertainment destination to the people of Lucknow where various leisure activities are blended together to provide an enhanced platform for cinema exhibition.
''We are targetting 55 per cent occupancy in the multiplex, with the countrywide average being around 45 per cent,'' he added.
The multiplex at the Saharaganj is the 57th screen of the PVR nationwide. PVR entertained 8.5 million movie goers last year in the country.
