Protests mark Advani's Bharat Suraksha Yatra in Saurashtra
Rajkot, Apr 6 (UNI) With the authorities in Rajkot and Porbander districts having prevented traders, workers of erstwhile Saurashtra Chemicals Limited (SCL) and family members of fishermen, lodged Pakistani Jails, from meeting senior BJP leader L K Advani, they registered their protest by raising slogans against the administration.
Mr Advani's ''Bharat Suraksha Yatra'' was on its way to Porbandar and Rajkot, where it was met with angry protestors.
In Porbandar, the workers of erstwhile SCL and family members of over 500 fishermen, who are languishing in Pakistani jail, today wanted to meet Mr Advani but the district administration refused to concede to their demand. Therefore, they raised slogans against veteran BJP leader after they were stopped by the authorities from submitting a memorandum.
The workers of SCL were agitating against their removal from service by the new management of the company, which was recently taken over by Nirma. As the authorities did not allow them to submit a memorandum, the workers resorted to sloganeering.
Before Mr Advani's arrival at the public rally ground here, the protesting traders were pacified by Gujarat Urban Development Minister I K Jadeja.
