Polio case reported in UP

Pilibhit, Apr 6 (UNI) A fresh case of polio has been reported in the Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh.

State Health Department sources said here today the 11-month-old son of one Uma Shankar in Amaria development block of the district has contracted the crippling disease, despite being administered with polio drops.

Incensed over the development, the infant's father has slapped a notice on the Chief Medical Officer, demanding Rs 25 lakh as compensation, sources added.

The development comes as a rude shock to the health department, that claimed to have increased the percentage of administration of pulse polio drops from 30 to 80 per cent recently in Pilibhit.
