Narendra Modi urges traders to end stir
Rajkot, Apr 6: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today urged the business and trade associations to stop their aigations on the VAT issue as the government is ready to remove the anomalies arising out of its implementation from April one this year.
Speaking at a public meeting at the Chaudhari High School ground here, from where BJP leader L K Advani embarks on the 'Bharat Suraksha Yatra', Mr Modi expressed his willingness to discuss the issue with the representatives of the trade and business association across the table.
He admitted that some problems may have generated due to the implementation of the VAT, but it can be resolved through discussions.
Nearly 60 state-level federations in Gujarat have joined hands and started the indefinite strike from yesterday, demanding simplification of VAT procedures and remove the octroi after implementation of VAT.
