Baramulla, Apr 6 (UNI) Militants today attacked an election rally of independent candidate from Sangrama constituency in Baramulla district of north Kashmir Shoaib Lone at Wagub near here, official sources said.

However, no one was injured in the attack, they added.

The sources said militants opened fire on a motorcade carrying Mr Lone's supporters to take part in the election road show at Waqub near Wagoora.

This led to chaos and panic among the supporters of Mr Lone, whose father Dr Ghulam Nabi Lone, the then Minister of State for Education, was assassinated by unidentified gunmen at high-security Tulsi Bagh area in Srinagar on October 18 last year.

In the shoot-out, two bullets hit one of the tyres of a TATA 407 vehicle.
