Man tries to sacrifice self; hospitalised

Lucknow, Apr 6 (UNI) A youth today slit his throat in an apparent bid to sacrifice himself in a temple here, but was saved by other devotees.

He was rushed to Balrampur hospital, where he was recovering.

Police said 22-year-old Alok Singh reached Maa Vindyavasani temple at Aliganj here and began to slit his throat.

However, other devotees at the temple disarmed him and rushed him to Balrampur hospital.

His father Ram Kumar Singh claimed his son was not mentally disturbed and had a religious bent of mind.

The reason behind his move were not immediately known.
