LDF victory in Kerala to strengthen Left forces: Vijayan
Pathanamthitta, Apr 6 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan today said the Left Democratic Front's (LDF) victory in the coming Kerala Assembly election has the potential to weaken the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre and strengthen the Left forces at the national level.
The anti-imperialistic stance of the LDF would reinforce anti-American sentiments of the people and deal a heavy blow to the extra-constitutional power centre represented by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, he said inaugurating an LDF election meeting here.
He also came down heavily on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for siding with America in the vote against Iran during the Atomic Energy Agency meeting. He also criticised the United Progressive Alliance government for deviating itself from the Common Minimum programme and discarding the time-tested Non Alignment policy postulated by Jawaharlal Nehru.
Refuting strongly the allegation that the LDF was against development programmes initiated by the UDF government, Mr Vijayan said that during the five years of UDF rule, Kerala's traditional culture was destroyed and instead mafia culture had been fostered.
