Chennai, Apr 6 (UNI) Popular actor and Forward Bloc State unit President M Karthik today said he might contest against Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa in the coming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

The party's Central Committee had given a suggestion in this regard. However, a final decision would be taken in a couple of days, he told a press conference here.

Karthik, a greenhorn in state politics, charged the ruling AIADMK with threatening his party candidates and preventing them from taking up electioneering.

He said the party would lodge a complaint with the Election Commission in this regard.

Asked which Assembly seat he would prefer to contest if he chose to jump into the electoral fray, Karthik said 'Andipatti, from where Ms Jayalalithaa is seeking a re-election.

Son of noted actor of the past Muthuraman, Karthik had an impressive rise in his political career, having been crowned Forward Bloc state president soon after he jumped on the bandwagon recently.

Belonging to the dominant Devar community, he was hoping to capitalise on the strong vote base of the community in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. The Forward Bloc is contesting over 100 seats on its own.
