Judoka killed by fellow players
Hisar, Apr 6 (UNI) National judo champion Satyendra, who was murdered in his hostel room on Sunday last, was killed by two fellow players, police said today.
''One of the killers was jealous of Satyendra for his top positions and also a rival in the 66 kg weight category,'' Superintendent of Police (SP) A S Chawla told UNI.
Without dislcosing the names of the killers, he said one of them ran away in the darkness of night when police reached near his house last night in a nearby village.
Mr Chawla said both the accused were drunk at the time of crime.
They came in a Santro car along with three other judo players who stayed back in the car while the duo went to Satyendra's room to commit the crime.
''Since the assailants were peers of the victim, he never suspected their designs and had no inkling of the attack,'' he said.
The S P Chawla said since the murderers did not carry any weapon while alighting the car, the three judo players sitting in the car did not know of their plan to kill Satyendra. During the investigations so far, no evidence has been found of their involvement in the murder.
One of the five judo players is undergoing training in a camp at Patiala these days.
