Jharkhand, Orissa, AP win opening matches

Ranchi, Apr 6 (UNI) Hosts Jharkhand, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh registered wins in the opening matches on the first day of fourth All India BSNL hockey tournament being played on the astroturf ground here.

In the inaugural match Jharkhand beat MTNL, Delhi by a margin of 4-0 while in other two matches Orissa defeated Rajasthan by 4-1 and Andhra Pradesh routed West Bengal by 7-1.

The final of the tournament being played on round robin league basis will be played on April 11.

Participating teams included Karnataka, Maharashtra, Punjab (all pool A), Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, MTNL-Delhi (all pool B) Orissa, Rajasthan, UP (East Circle), Madhya Pradesh (all pool C) and Andhra Pradesh, NTR-New Delhi, Jammu Kashmir and West Bengal (all pool D) UNI RAJ/SCS DH HT1806
