88 Indians held in Singapore for immigration offences
Singapore, Apr 6: Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has arrested 88 Indian nationals for alleged immigration offences which include overstaying despite the expiry of visas.
The ICA officers picked up 43 of them, between the age of 21-55 years, yesterday from makeshift huts in a forested area where they were sleeping, the ICA said in a statement.
A day earlier, the ICA officers had picked up 45 of them, between the ages of 21 and 54, from a three-story apartment.
Preliminary investigations showed they were common workers earning about 25 Singapore dollars a day, the ICA said adding that cases involving the immigration offenders are being investigated.
