HC rejects dismisses petition in fake killings case

Chandigarh, Apr 6 (UNI) The division bench of Chief Justice D K Jain and Justice Surya Kant of Punjab and Haryana High Court today dismissed the petition filed by a Human Rights organisation which sought directions to disclose the identity of all those militants who had abandoned arms and were rehabilitated.

Such militants had been declared to be dead in police encounters but, in fact, they lived under assumed names after rehabilitation.

The petition was filed by Chandigarh-based World Human rights Protection Council filed through its chairman advocate Ranjan Lakhanpal.

However, the other petition preferred by a former militant Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi who is living in Jalandhar under the assumed name of Harjit singh Kahlon, against disclosure of their identities, was referred to another bench.
