''Fastest Expanding Indian Shipping Co'' award to Varun Shipping

Mumbai, Apr 6 (UNI) Varun Shipping Company was conferred the ''Fastest Expanding Indian Shipping Company'' award by the National Maritime Day Celebrations Committee formed by the Directorate General of Shipping.

Company vice chairman Arun Mehta also received the ''Varuna Award'' for his contributions to the shipping industry in India.

Both awards were presented yesterday at a function organised by the National Maritime Day Celebrations Committee here, the Company informed the BSE in a release.

The Company has, at an investment of Rs 1250 crore last year, acquired three LPG carriers and two modern double hull crude oil tankers. Its subsidiary has acquired one LPG carrier.

The Company's fleet of LPG carriers is the largest in India in terms of both fleet size and carrying capacity. As on date, it owns and operates a diversified fleet of 19 vessels comprising eleven LPG carriers, three product tankers, two crude oil tankers, a bulk carrier and two offshore supply vessels.
