Digvijay invited to World Ethics Forum
Bhopal, Apr 6 (UNI) All-India Congress Committee General Secretary and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh has been invited as a speaker at the four-day inaugural World Ethics Forum conference to be held at Oxford University from April 9.
''The theme is 'Leadership, Ethics and Integrity in Public Life' and the forum is being co-hosted by the International Institute for Public Ethics (IIPE) and the International Association for Religious Freedom,'' the World Bank's Senior Governance Specialist Stephen N Ndegwa and IIPE President Charles Sampford said in a letter to Mr Singh.
The conference is co-sponsored by the WB, the United States Agency for International Development, the United Kingdom Department For International Development and the Australian Agency for International Development.
Over 200 participants are expected, with a majority being government and civil society leaders from the developing world, leading scholars and practitioners.
Confirmed speakers included former Ireland President Mary Robinson who would provide the opening keynote address.
''We expect one of the important initiatives -- emerging from this conference -- to be the Global Integrity Alliance, a proposed global network of leaders, practitioners and scholars, which will provide support and advocacy for the emergence of ethical leadership and better governance,'' the letter added.
Mr Singh's panel 'The Experience of Leadership' would be led by Dr Dijana Plestina, who is Counsellor to the Foreign Affairs Minister, Croatia.
Panelists included former Papua New Guinea premier Mekere Morauta, former Bolivia interim president Eduardo Rodriguez and Mr John Githongo, who is Kenya's former Permanent Secretary for Governance and Ethics.
