Written by: Staff

Hubli, Apr 6 (UNI) Agitation by the members of the Hubli Bar Association, demanding that a circuit bench of the Karnataka High Court be set up between the twin cities of Hubli and Dharwad, was today further intensified with one of the senior advocates resorting to a fast-unto-death.

Urging the Government not to start construction works of the circuit bench at the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) near Dharwad, they boycotted Court proceedings for the fourth consecutive day and resorted to a road blockade near the Court circle. They burnt an effigy of Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar for his reported statement that bhoomi pooja for the circuit bench building construction works would be held at WALMI on April 10.

Meanwhile, senior advocate S H Kudal commenced hunger strike in the court premises and was supported by another senior advocate and father of Mr Jagadish Shettar, S S Shettar.
